Dr.Yuri Ivan started his formal music training in Ukraine where his primary teachers were Jarema Skybinky and Mykola Kolessa. Later Yuri Ivan also studied with Yuri Simonov and Adalberto Tonnini. After graduating from The State Conservatory of Music in Lviv, he served from 1996 to 2000 as an Associate Conductor at The State Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine and as Artistic Director of Trans-Carpathian Philharmonic in Ukraine in 2000. He also appeared with LVMI Opera, the National Symphony-Pops Orchestra of Ukraine, the National Broadcasting Company Orchestra of Ukraine and the Northern Hungarian Symphony. In 2000 Yuri Ivan was named the Music Director of the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Uzghgorod where he conducted the 85-member Cathedral Choir. At the same time Dr. Ivan was appointed Director of Choral Activities at the The Blessed Theodore Romzha Theological Academy in Uzhgorod. Yuri Ivan completed his doctoral studies in conducting at the University of Minnesota where he studied with Akira Mori and Craig Kirchhoff. Currently, as the Music Director at St. Constantine Ukrainian Catholic Church. Dr. Ivan is active in the artistic life of the Twin Cities metro area, collaborating with a range of artistic and educational organizations as The Linden Hills Chamber Orchestra and The Kenwood Symphony Orchestra and Metropolitan Ballet.
